Declaration on Accessibility in Easy Language
This declaration applies to the website: https://visual-heritage.fhstp.ac.at with all its public subpages.
Some contents come from other providers. These contents are marked as such.
We want to enable all people to make good use of our website. This is why we follow the rules for accessible/barrier-free websites.
Objective of the St. Pölten UAS
We want all people to be able to use our website properly. To do this, we comply with the laws and regulations concerning accessibility:
- the Web Accessibility Act (Web-Zugänglichkeits-Gesetz (WZG)
- the Accessibility Act (Barrierefreiheitsgesetz, BaFG)
- the regulations of EU Directive 2016/2102
- the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Stufe AA
- the european standard EN 301 549
How accessible is the website?
Our website is partly accessible. This means: Many things are good already, but not everything.
These things are not barrier-free yet:
- Some videos have no subtitles. This means that deaf people cannot understand the contents.
- Some video and audio files lack text descriptions.
- On some sites, videos start automatically and continue to run in a loop.It is not possible to stop them.
- When you navigate using the keyboard only, it is sometimes hard to see where you are at the moment.
- Some links are recognisable in colour only. The colour contrast is too weak in some cases.
- In some places, labels for programmes to read out text aloud are missing.
- Not all buttons and interactive elements are easily operable or correctly labelled.
- Some page headings are not in the correct order.
- Some page headings do not describe the contents well.
- Some contents change automatically without the user’s intention.
- Some embedded contents are not described correctly.
- Texts as images cannot be easily enlarged or read out aloud.
- Some accordions cannot be well controlled using the keyboard.
We are working on improving all of this.
What are barriers that we cannot remove?
- Some videos have no audio description for blind people. We cannot remedy this for the time being because it is very difficult and complex.
- Many PDF documents that were published before 28 June 2025 are not yet barrier-free.If you need one of these documents, please let us know. We will then send you an accessible version.
- Contents from other providers, which are beyond our influence, are not always free from barriers.
- Live videos have no subtitles. They are therefore exempt from these regulations.
Transition period for older documents
Older contents from before 28 June 2025 need to be accessible by 28 June 2030 only. However, if we make any changes to a document, we render it accessible right away.
